Well my injury happened 13 days ago. I kept hoping that it would be better by now but it isn't. I went to my follow up doctor's appointment on Wednesday and the doctor decided that instead of just having an LCL sprain I have an LCL and MCL sprain. He said that it will likely take 3-4 weeks to heal if nothing is tore.
He suggested an MRI which I had following the appointment, unfortunately I still don't have the results. I have an appointment this Wednesday to determine if I have any tears. Let's keep your fingers crossed that I don't!
The doctor also told me to continue to wear my brace and that I could use the elliptical while wearing the brace and it should be no problem. I gave myself a break until Saturday. I figured the more rest the better. Sadly, Saturday's elliptical workout was a total disaster. I went for 15 minutes and could really feel it in my knee so I stopped and then I tried to do 30 Day Shred and didn't make it through the warm up. Let's just say I was highly disappointed. I miss working out. Luckily, my cousin suggested swimming to help maintain my cardio.
I went shopping Saturday and found a one piece swimsuit. I picked up the Speedo Women's Solid Ultraback Conservative Swimsuit from Academy Sports and am really excited to try it out.
I had planned on trying it out yesterday but my knee still felt really sore. So I will be hitting the pool Tuesday evening when I would typically be doing my speed work. I also plan on doing a little arm and ab work on the days I don't swim and hopefully that will be enough fitness.
I haven't swam laps in a really long time so if anyone has beginner suggestions I would love to hear them!
I will let you know how the swim goes. I don't think I will look like this but I can hope.
Sorry to hear it isn't getting much better! I haven't swam laps in forever either! I would love to though... I LOVE LOVE LOVE swimming!
